First Strike

First Strike - Pamela Clare First Strike is Pamela Clare's tempting erotic prelude to her next I-Team Novella, [b:Striking Distance|15704285|Striking Distance (I-Team, #6)|Pamela Clare|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1377922534s/15704285.jpg|21366184]. For anyone (like me) who cannot wait till Striking Distance, book six of Pamela Clare's I-Team series is released on 5 Nov 2013, having the erotic prequel, First Strike available is rather an illicit thrill. In her introduction, Clare notes that the erotic focus in this novella steps beyond what she usually writes in her books, but it serves her characters and readers well.

In Dubai, where dress, public affection or contretemps can land you in prison, television's sexy wartime frontline reporter Laura Nilsson and Navy SEAL Javier Corbray meet at dinner and spend a weekend having sex. But it's just for the weekend as neither of them want or can have any emotional ties. Or that's what they think.

Clare provides us with a glimpse at a very sophisticated setting that has some scary requisites for behavior. By the end of the novella the reader wants to know more about Laura and Javier and luckily, with the novella's cliffhanger ending, Clare provides a free glimpse of what's next for them in Striking Distance, through the prologue published on her website.

If you haven't read any of the I-Team novels before, you won't be lost by reading First Strike as this could be a stand alone entry, but it really serves as an introduction to Striking Distance. I'd recommend that you take the next two weeks to read all the books in the series as they are that good - [b:Extreme Exposure|159767|Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1)|Pamela Clare|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1290456764s/159767.jpg|154204], [b:Hard Evidence|478652|Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2)|Pamela Clare|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1347756733s/478652.jpg|467081], [b:Unlawful Contact|2771105|Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3)|Pamela Clare|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1311279848s/2771105.jpg|2796834], [b:Naked Edge|3711152|Naked Edge (I-Team, #4)|Pamela Clare|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1311702979s/3711152.jpg|3754717], [b:Breaking Point|414646|Breaking Point (Troubleshooters, #9)|Suzanne Brockmann|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1320440616s/414646.jpg|2943777], [b:Skin Deep|17668078|Skin Deep (Skin Deep, #1)|J.M. Once again a friend recommended this series to me and as someone who at one time had more reporters in her contact list than anyone else, I loved it. Each story focuses on a member of the I-Team, or investigative team, at one of Denver's daily newspapers. These books are filled with suspense, romance, and intrigue. The newsroom setting is realistic as are the stories they cover. Clare does not shy from controversy or from shining the light on difficult subjects. Five thumbs up and counting the days till 5 November!
